BROOKLYN - Thousands of firefighters marched across the Brooklyn Bridge today to protest the proposed closures of fire companies.

Several protests have already been held against the proposed closures. Mayor Michael Bloomberg's proposed budget would close 20 fire companies throughout the city. Eight of those are in Brooklyn.

Members of the Uniformed Firefighters Association and the Uniformed Fire Officers Association marched across the bridge to City Hall as part of the protest.
