NEW YORK - (AP) - Some 3,000 active-duty servicemen and women wereamong the estimated 20,000 participants who marched up Fifth Avenue atthe Veterans Day Parade in Manhattan.

A 21-gun salute and the playing of taps kicked off Thursday'sceremonies at the Eternal Light Monument at Madison Square Park.

Gov. David Paterson and Mayor Michael Bloomberg also addressedthe veterans and their families.

The parade's grand marshal was former Yankees infielder and SanDiego Padres Hall of Fame broadcaster Jerry Coleman. The86-year-old veteran was honored for his service in both WWIIand the Korean War.
