BROOKLYN - It's time for tricks, treats and costumes, and News 12 is sharing some useful safety tips to keep up the frightful fun this Halloween.

Experts say that adults need to be present at all times with children 12 years old and under while trick-or-treating. They encourage having a planned route before heading out the door.

It's also important to make sure that children can not only see, but be seen. Flashlights, reflective tape and glow sticks are all helpful Halloween accessories.

Drivers need to be especially vigilant. A recent report found that more than twice as many child pedestrians are hit and killed on Halloween than on any other day of the year.
