BROOKLYN - News 12 Brooklyn is counting down the top stories of the borough of 2013 as voted by our viewers, and coming in at No. 10 is dolphins in Brooklyn.

It's normally a rare occurrence but unfortunately it's been happening more and more, especially over the past year. Dolphins are finding their way into Brooklyn waters, without happy endings.

Back in January, a common dolphin was spotted swimming in the polluted Gowanus Canal and died hours later.

On Nov. 14, another common dolphin was spotted swimming in the Coney Island Creek. At first, it appeared to be swimming freely, but later on, concerned onlookers grew concerned for its safety. It died by the next day.
