BROOKLYN - News 12 Brooklyn is counting down the top stories of the borough of 2013 as voted by our viewers. Coming in at No. 8 is the words of hate scrawled onto a statue of Jackie Robinson in Coney Island.

The iconic statue of Robinson and teammate Pee Wee Reese outside of MCU Park was defaced last August.

Someone splashed hateful things, including a swastika on the statue's base..

Since the incident, police installed a security camera to make sure no one else tries to deface a monument that serves as a symbol of hope and unity.

No one has been arrested for the crime.
