Train derailment stalls BK commuters

BROOKLYN - A northbound No. 6 train derailed early this morning, creating a long and messy commute for hundreds of Brooklyn residents.

The MTA says the train jumped the tracks between Brooklyn Bridge and Canal Street. An empty train backed up to the disabled car and evacuated the 19 people who were on board.

As a result, the 4, 5 and 6 trains experienced service changes and extensive residual delays. Straphangers say packed subway platforms and cars made the situation even worse.

No injuries were reported.
