Transformer fire causes scare in Bed-Stuy

A transformer fire erupted last night near the corner of Macdonough Street and Tompkins Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, alarming neighbors.Residents say they were told by firefighters

BROOKLYN - A transformer fire erupted last night near the corner of Macdonough Street and Tompkins Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, alarming neighbors.

Residents say they were told by firefighters that the source of the flames that were seen shooting up into the air was an underground electrical fire.

The fire was quickly extinguished without causing any injuries or property damage.
