BROOKLYN - Residents in East New York woke up to find themselves without electricity this morning after a transformer fire knocked out power in their area.

The fire sparked around Hegeman Avenue, bringing several wires down.

Authorities blocked off the area while Con Edison crews assessed the damage.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Neighbors say it's the second time such an incident has occurred in the area within the past few weeks.
