Trial begins in jail 'fight club' death case

BROOKLYN - The trial for two Rikers Island guards charged in the beating death of Brooklyn resident Christopher Robinson is set to begin today.

The 18-year-old victim was found beaten in his jail cell in 2008. Court documents allege that 12 inmates were part of a prison fight club called 'The Program.' Prosecutors say Robinson's refusal to participate may have led to his death.

Robinson was in prison for a parole violation.
