Trial of Serb for attack on BK student postponed

BELGRADE, Serbia - (AP) - Serb judges have postponed until September the trial of a former college basketball player chargedwith beating an American student into a coma.

Miladin Kovacevic, accused of inflicting severe bodily harm withpossible deadly consequences on Bryan Steinhauer in May 2008 inupstate New York, told judges Monday he would not make his pleawithout the presence of his lawyer.

The lawyer said earlier he could not attend the hearings becausehe was busy with other cases. Judges on Monday postponed the startof the trial until September.
