BROOKLYN - Some schools in Brooklyn that have received low city report card grades are hoping an exciting arts program will give them a new reputation.

City Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina announced that this year, four Brooklyn public schools will be taking part in the "Turnaround Arts" program.

The program is aimed at improving student achievement through music, performance and other forms of art.

Celebrities came out to the Brooklyn Museum to show their support for the program, which has already been implemented in 26 school districts across the country.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Edward Norton and Kal Penn, who attended a public arts school in New Jersey, were in attendance.

The program will be in each of the four Brooklyn schools for the next three years. At the end of the three years, the goal is for the schools to be able to sustain the program themselves.

The four schools will receive $125,000 each, coming from both private and public funds.
