Twin brothers Jael and Jan Sanchez accused of trying to bribe police

Twin brothers are facing bribery charges for allegedly offering to pay off police after one of the brothers was arrested during a traffic stop. One of the brothers had forged credit cards, police say. (1/12/14)

BROOKLYN - Twin brothers are facing bribery charges for allegedly offering to pay off police after one of the brothers was arrested during a traffic stop.

Police say 20-year-old Jael Sanchez was pulled over on Winthrop Street for a traffic violation. When officers approached the car, they allegedly spotted him trying to hide what was determined to be marijuana, gift cards and forged credit cards.

Officials say Sanchez offered $10,000 to officers to let him go.

When Sanchez's twin brother, Jan Sanchez, later arrived at the 71st Precinct, police say he also offered $4,000 for his brother's release.

Both men are facing bribery charges. Jael Sanchez faces additional charges for marijuana possession and possession of forged property.
