BROOKLYN - Ukrainian-Americans in New York have joined together to show support for Ukraine amid its political crisis.

Rep. Carolyn Mahoney and dozens of Ukrainian-Americans gathered at the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America in Manhattan to show solidarity for Ukraine.

"We are standing against the invaders and those who want to invade a sovereign country, those who have invaded and who are challenging their territorial boundaries," said Mahoney.

On Friday, Congress voted for a loan guarantee of $1 billion without a cap to move quickly to aid the Ukrainian people.

Maloney says if the bill passes the Senate, Ukraine will be one step closer to stabilizing its economy and strengthening its government.

Until then, Ukrainian-Americans say they will continue to speak out and show their solidarity.
