RED HOOK - One Christmas display at a home in Red Hook is grabbing the attention of many neighbors, with cats taking center stage in a manger.

Andrew Amendola says he and his two aunts are carrying on his recently deceased father’s tradition of erecting the crèche, which stray cats call home every holiday season.

Residents embrace this holiday ritual not just by snapping photos and cracking smiles, but by feeding and supporting the festive felines.

“It’s become a little neighborhood monument,” says Amendola. “I love it.”
