BROOKLYN - The U.S. Small Business Administration has reopened the filing period for people with businesses and homes damaged by Superstorm Sandy to seek economic relief.

The new deadline for physical damage and economic injury losses as a result of the storm is now Dec. 1, 2016.

The New Recovery Improvements for Small Entities (RISE) After Disaster Act of 2015 allows the SBA to make low-interest disaster loans for Sandy for one year.

The SBA recommends not waiting until the last minute to see if your business or home qualify for the loan.
