BROOKLYN - Residents in Brooklyn created and collected gifts and cards for veterans this Valentine’s Day.

The United War Veterans Council helped organize the Valentine's Day gift-giving event.

The gifts and cards will be distributed to veterans in Brooklyn, as well as veterans at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.

The gifts and handmade Valentine's Day cards were made by local residents in Bay Ridge, and people throughout the country.

Volunteers will head to Maryland on Thursday to deliver the cards and gifts.
