BROOKLYN - Vegans and meat-eaters alike came out today to enjoy vegan food as part of a friendly competition.

The festivities were all part of the NYC Vegan Cook-off: Best Balls Competition at Littlefield in Gowanus.

A total of 13 competitors faced off making all types of balls: dessert balls, breakfast balls, beet balls and more. Three judges were on hand to taste the dishes, and the first prize was more than $200.

It marked the third vegan cook-off event. Organizers hope to plan another one in October.
