BROOKLYN - The retrial of a teen accused of stabbing her cousin to death back in 2008 continued today as the victim's mother took the stand to testify against her niece.
Marva Braithwaite broke down in tears as she relived the day she found her 16-year-old daughter Shannon riddled with stab wounds.
Tiana Browne, 18, is the alleged murderer. Police say they have Browne on tape confessing to stabbing Braithwate 49 times.
A judge declared a mistrial in the Browne case last October because a prosecutor withheld information about a key witness' criminal past.
At the time of Shannon Braithwate's death, her family said they had taken in the then-15-year-old Browne to give her a chance to turn her life around. She'd been with the family two days before the fatal stabbing.Murder retrial begins in Tiana Browne caseJudge declares mistrial in Tiana Browne murder caseTeen found brutally stabbed inside her Brooklyn home
