BROOKLYN - Seven Brooklyn buildings have become a testing ground for a new technology called the Video Doorman.

The video feed allows a person watching at the security company's Staten Island center to let deliverymen into the building, guide them to the mail room and track packages remotely.

The Video Doorman also serves as a security system. Tenants are given an alert-button keychain, which they can activate if they need help.

The creator of the system says it's not meant to replace people.

However, security guard James Fynes says that's exactly what happened in his building and that video doorman cannot spring into action in case of an emergency.
