BROOKLYN - A candlelight vigil that was planned for the 2-year-old boy who died after a car jumped a curb in East Flatbush has been canceled.

Denim McLean passed away last Thursday at Kings County Hospital after being seriously hurt while waiting at a bus stop on Utica and Church avenues the previous Saturday. A total of 12 people were injured in the crash, including the boy's mother, Wendy, who remains hospitalized.

Organizers say the boy's grandmother did not want a public prayer service, so they called the vigil off.

Police say the 48-year-old driver told them that her brakes failed at a red light. She passed a Breathalyzer test and is not facing any charges.
