Vigil held for BK climber missing on Oregon's Mount Hood

BROOKLYN - Area residents held a vigil to pray for the return of a Brooklyn man missing on Oregon's Mount Hood. The vigil was held by the board of the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Kings County in Borough Hall. Jerry "Nikko" Cooke, a member of the board, and two other climbers were reported missing on Sunday. The group used a cell phone to let their families know they were in trouble. Thursday will be the fourth day of search efforts, but bad weather is expected over the next few days.Members of the group told News 12 Brooklyn they usually hold a holiday gathering each year. This year, however, the gathering took a more somber tone as they await the safe return of Cooke and the other climbers.
