Vigil held for woman who died at BK hospital

BROOKLYN - A 24-hour vigil started last night in honor of a Brooklyn woman who collapsed at Kings County Hospital's psychiatric emergency room two years ago and died after not receiving any attention from nurses.

A surveillance video captured Esmin Green, 49, falling to the floor and lying there for more than an hour before someone came to her side.

Kings County Hospital officials tell News 12 Brooklyn that they held their own prayer and reflection service yesterday in memory of Green. They also add that the hospital has made major improvements in its new psychiatric emergency center addressing patient concerns.

Hospital officials say they have relieved overcrowding, expanded the therapeutic facility, established a leadership team and hired additional staff.
