CANARSIE - Volunteers in Canarsie are preparing for the Jewish holiday of Purim this weekend by giving back to those in need.

At the Met Council Food Pantry warehouse in Canarsie, volunteers are packing boxes of food that will be distributed to low-income Jewish families in Brooklyn who can't afford meals for Purim.

Organizers at the food pantry say an anonymous donor gave them all the money to provide the food donations.

The donations will be delivered Friday. In total, 1,000 bags will be distributed.
