(11/06/06) SHEEPSHEAD BAY &舑; Voters in Brooklyn are gearing up to cast their ballots on Election Day, but the task may be a little more difficult for new citizens.

Some immigrants say language barriers often keep some ethnic groups away from the polls. In addition, some groups just don&舗;t think their interests are being properly represented by candidates. State election representatives, however, say language should not be a factor when it comes to residents exercising their right to vote. In fact, it is illegal to block anyone from voting regardless of race, nationality, age or physical health.

Many voters say they feel it&舗;s important to be informed of all the issues before heading to the polls. Those who feel strongly about voting on Election Day say it&舗;s their civic duty.
