BROOKLYN - Vice President Joe Biden visited New York City today and focused on the upcoming renovation for the Brooklyn Bridge.The vice president says the federal government will give $30 million from the Recovery Act toward the $500 million renovation.
The Department of Transportation says the Recovery Act grant will be put toward repainting the bridge and improving traffic flow.
Officials say the ramps will be renovated and widened to improve safety and reduce congestion. They say the bridge is expected to be completed within the next two years.
The project is expected to create more than 800 jobs, according to the Department of Transportation.
