BROOKLYN - Residents driving through Brooklyn this weekend will want to get out early to avoid traffic, due to some construction projects on the roads and rails.

Slowdown should be expected for those heading to the downtown crossings. The Brooklyn Bridge will be closed to Manhattan-bound traffic during the overnight hours, and will reopen by 7 a.m. Saturday.

The Manhattan Bridge will have one lane closed on the south upper roadway from 7 a.m to 4:30 p.m. heading into Brooklyn.

Alternate side of the street parking rules will be in effect throughout the weekend.

On mass transit there will be a lot of weekend track work affecting Brooklyn. There will be no G train service between Nassau Ave. and Court Square due to Sandy recovery work. Free shuttle bus service will be provided.
