BROOKLYN - If you plan on staying local this weekend, there are some events taking place to be on the lookout for.

The 32nd Annual Mermaid Parade and Festival will take place Saturday. Surf Avenue will be closed between West 23rd Street and West 10th Street from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The parade will continue to the boardwalk and disperse at West 15th Street.

For the festival, Stillwell Avenue will be closed between Surf Avenue and Bowery Street from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Alternate side of the street parking rules will be in effect on Saturday citywide.
