Cool at School: P.S. 254 earns Blue Ribbon honor

BROOKLYN - An elementary school in Sheepshead Bay is being recognized nationally for its strong academic performance. 

P.S. 254 on Avenue Y was named a 2014 Blue Ribbon School by the National Blue Ribbon Schools program. 

The diverse school has more than 60 percent of students learning English as a second language, and the young scholars say they're committed to academic success.  

P.S. 254 is just one of five Blue Ribbon Schools in New York City and one of only 210 across the country.
