BROOKLYN - Whole Foods is opening its first ever store in Brooklyn on Third Street by Third Avenue.
The plan for the 50,000-square foot Gowanus location has been 10 years in the making.
The chain store focuses on providing natural and organic food, but this particular location will focus on selling locally produced food with more than 1,000 Brooklyn-made products in store.
The store will also feature designer wood decorations from the Coney Island Boardwalk, and a beer garden on the roof where shoppers can enjoy Brooklyn brews.
Whole Foods is expected to open its second Brooklyn store in Williamsburg in 2015.
