CONEY ISLAND - Winds picked up in Coney Island Sunday as Hermine lingered offshore in the Atlantic Ocean.

Beaches were closed to swimmers, but people turned out anyway to enjoy the sunny weather.

Some beachgoers said they weren't even aware of the storm.

Others said the wind made their visits to the beach more comfortable.
