BROOKLYN - A woman was struck by a police van at the intersection of Nostrand Avenue and St. John's Place Friday night.

Eyewitnesses say the woman was crossing the street when the van ran a red light and slammed into her from the back. The pedestrian who rushed to the woman's aid says she had the right of way.

The impact caused the victim to hit her head on the van as it drove away, according to witnesses.

The woman was taken to Kings County Hospital with a head injury.
