Woman dead in fire on 57th Street in Sunset Park

SUNSET PARK - One person is dead after a fire broke out in Sunset Park this afternoon.

The FDNY says it got a call from a neighbor at 1:34 p.m. about a house fire on 57th Street near Ninth Avenue. The fire started in the building's basement and the victim was found in a lower bedroom. The victim, 81-year-old Ho Yukkuen, was pronounced dead on arrival.

The fire chief on scene says another person lives in the unit but has not been located. A dog was also inside the house and escaped unharmed.

A cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
