BROOKLYN - Americans may not be as smart as their international peers.

According to the Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies, American adults scored below the international average in math, reading and problem solving.

For example, on a scale of 500, scores in math ranged from 246 in Spain to 288 in Japan, with the U.S. coming in below 18 other countries at 253.

Some Brooklyn residents say they weren't surprised by the findings.
