Word on the Street: Banning ‘bossy’

BROOKLYN - Celebrities and leaders are working to remove the word "bossy" from people’s vocabulary when describing girls and young women.

Creators of a new public service announcement are encouraging young women to be leaders, and hope their message will be spread to a wide audience.

The 'Ban Bossy' campaign says that when boys are assertive they are described as leaders. Girls, however, are taught the same traits are a character flaw and are called bossy.

News 12 asked residents in Brooklyn to weigh in on the issue.
