BROOKLYN - If you're ready to say goodbye to your Christmas tree, the city's Department of Sanitation is here to help.

On Monday, Dec. 30, they will begin their annual curbside Christmas tree collection. The program will end on Jan. 15.

News 12 asked Brooklyn residents when they take down their trees. One resident said within two to three weeks, while another said until the day after New Year's.

Some residents said they take their trees down on the day of the Three Kings, which is the first week of January.

The trees collected during the pick-up program will be chipped and made into compost for city parks, ball fields and community gardens.
