BROOKLYN - With Memorial Day just around the corner, residents told News 12 what the holiday means to them.

Some residents say the holiday is always about remembering and honoring the people that protect us, but the message is often buried under parties and barbecues.

Many neighbors even go as far as to say the community as a whole takes the holiday for granted, and they should spend more time appreciating what our soldiers do for the country.
