NEW YORK - Authorities are being asked to investigate allegations of racial profiling at department stores in New York City.

The probe was prompted by an alleged incident at Barney's in Manhattan involving black customers being accused of fraud after expensive purchases.

Many New Yorkers told News 12 that they have felt discriminated against in department stores before.

Published reports say four people accused security of racial profiling in city department stores over the course of a week.
