BROOKLYN - Yellow bus drivers hit the road this morning, resuming their private school bus routes for the first time since going on strike more than a month ago.

The gates were open at Hoyt Transportation in Coney Island, as some drivers got back to work getting non-public students to school. The routes will also be back to normal tomorrow when all public school students return from a two-day winter break.

Members of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1181 decided on Friday to go back to work after receiving a letter from the city's mayoral candidates, who all promised to revisit the job security issues that led to the strike.

Parents say they're relieved that their morning routines are starting to get back to normal.
