NEW YORK - (AP) - Consider them keys to the city. Anyone who getsa sudden itch to tickle the ivories will be able to play freepublic pianos in 50 places throughout New York City, from the ConeyIsland boardwalk to the Metropolitan Museum.

An art installation touring the world is making its first U.S.stop on Monday.

More than 130 pianos have been played in parks, squares and busstations since 2008 in cities like London, Sydney and Sao Paulo.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Thursday that 60 pianos willbe available in New York City until July 5. The concept wasconceived by British artist Luke Jerram.

Some of the pianos will be outside. They'll be equipped withtarps in case of rain.

The pianos will be donated later to schools and communitygroups.
