A Coram teen is accused of leading police on a pursuit through several Long Island communities.
Investigators say it started around 11:20 p.m. Thursday in Coram.
According to police, an officer tried to stop the 16-year-old driver, but he took off and tried to ram a police cruiser.
Officers say they followed the teen's car for about 15 minutes. After making several erratic turns, police say the teen lost control of his car.
Police say he slid off the road into a police cruiser at the intersection of Bellport Avenue and Horseblock Road in Medford.
Residents in the area were frustrated with the situation.
"It's ridiculous--it's absolutely ridiculous," said Bill Murtagh, of Stony Brook. "Where are the parents and who is supervising him?"
The unidentified teen is facing several charges including driving while ability impaired by drugs. He will be arraigned at family court in Central Islip at a later date.
A 17-year-old passenger was not charged.
A second passenger, 19-year-old Sean Ryerson, of Shirley, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
New 12 is told no one was injured in the chase.
