Puerto Rican parade draws thousands

Hundreds of thousands of people turned out Sunday for the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in Manhattan.
Many were covered from head to toe in the colors of the Puerto Rican flag celebrating Puerto Rican heritage.
The parade route started on 44th Street as parade participants marched for 40 blocks down 5th Avenue.
Dancers, marching bands and reggae music stole the show as parade viewers sang and shouted.
Gov. David Paterson and Mayor Michael Bloomberg appeared along the parade route, as did Ruben Diaz, Jr., the Bronx borough president. Diaz marched with embattled state Sen. Malcolm Smith.
