BROOKLYN - While most school buses remain unoccupied, a few school bus drivers are out and picking up extra children.

One school bus driver who is on the road today says he is a member of a different union that did not authorize a strike over the contract. He says that while he supports the striking union, he can’t join them on the picket line because he might lose his job.

The drivers are striking to ensure that a job security provision is placed in their new contract, a request that Mayor Michael Bloomberg says has been ruled illegal by state courts.
