Catholic schools like St. Mark Catholic Academy will welcome students back next week.
The Sheepshead Bay school has taken extensive measures to make sure students and staff are safe.
“I'd rather him come to school and if he has any questions, he can ask his teacher and his teacher can help him a lot better than I can,” said parent Bettsy Marin.
Teachers had to go through extensive training and set up their classrooms, according to health department guidelines.
“Handwashing techniques, proper ways of using a mask, we have to teach the little ones to keep it on and not touch their face,” said teacher Samantha Strusinski.
Of the 310 enrolled students at St. Mark’s Catholic Academy, 60 will continue remote learning, which helped staff to organize learning spaces.
The building will be cleaned thoroughly at the end of each school day. Students will have to take daily temperature checks and get a quick mask break every hour.
Classes will start meeting in-person on Tuesday.
