MTA proposes bus from Bushwick to Downtown Brooklyn
The commute on public transportation from Downtown Brooklyn to Bushwick can be exhausting for riders but the MTA says it has a plan to help straphangers who jump from train to train.
The proposed plan would allow Brooklyn residents taking public transportation to have a straight route by bus from Downtown Brooklyn to Bushwick.
The proposed project is the select bus service.
The project is part of a statewide attempt to improve transportation.
The MTA says the state Department of Transportation is trying to get $9-$15 million in federal money for the project. The select bus route would go from Jay Street in Downtown Brooklyn to the Myrtle Wyckoff stop in Bushwick.
The MTA says that these bus routes do work, as the Nostrand Avenue select bus route has been 31 percent faster during the morning rush and 20 percent faster in the evening than regular bus service.
