Filipino food truck gains recognition at Vendy Awards
One cook's goal of making Filipino food mainstream has gotten him recognition in the Vendy Awards.
Emanuel Imperial, owner of the Sisig City food truck in Gowanus, says that it was time to bring Filipino taste to the streets of Brooklyn and New York City.
Imperial's truck is among six finalists in the Rookie of the Year category in the Vendy Awards, a competition for street food vendors.
Imperial says one of his favorite dishes from the Philippines is, in fact, sisig, which traditionally is the face of the pig.
