Residents in Canarsie celebrate Family Fun Day
Residents in Canarsie enjoyed a family fun day sponsored by state Sen. Roxanne Persaud on Thursday.
"Camps are ending, it's coming down to the end of the summer and we just want the kids to have some fun before they go back to school," Persaud said. 
The event featured blood pressure screenings, rock climbing with the NYPD and fire safety lessons from the FDNY.
There was also face painting, free nutritious boxed lunches and a preview of the West Indian American Day parade.
