Coffey Park gets new handball courts

Newly renovated handball courts at Coffey Park in Red Hook have reopened to the public.
The Parks Department says it hopes the upgrade will entice kids to stay in the park for hours.
Players like Elizabeth Vargas, 13, say the game is both fun and great exercise, and the new courts are also attracting people who've never played before.
The Fairway Community Foundation spent $127,000 to renovate the courts at Coffey Park and also at Chelsea Park in Manhattan.
The foundation says it hopes to sponsor handball tournaments in the future, in addition to possibly renovating more courts.
