Gun buyback event being held in Flatbush
The NYPD and the Brooklyn district attorney's office is continuing this year's gun buyback program in an effort to keep illegal firearms off the street.
Residents will be able to dispose of unwanted firearms Saturday until 4 p.m. in exchange for cash at the Clarendon Road Church in Flatbush.
The buyback event is open to the public, except for licensed gun owners.
No identification is required for the event and firearms will be accepted with no questions asked.
The NYPD has taken about 10,000 guns off the street since 2008 through the gun buyback program.
