A nonprofit organization wants to make the streets of Bedford-Stuyvesant safer for bicyclists.
The push comes after the April 15 death of 34-year-old Lauren Davis, who was riding her bike at Lexington and Classon avenues when police say she was struck by a distracted driver. She died at the scene.
The organization Transportation Alternatives met with the Davis family to launch a petition for a bike lane on the street where Davis died.
The family and Transportation Alternatives plan to meet with elected officials with the hope of pushing along the issue.
News 12 reached out to the Department of Transportation for comment, but has not yet heard back.
