Uber suggests alternative transportation during L train suspension

Uber is proposing a new idea on how to deal with the upcoming L train shutdown in 2019.
Transit advocates across the city have suggested allowing bus service over the Williamsburg Bridge, but that could possibly create traffic congestion on the bridge. 
Company executives at Uber say they believe that their technology could help commuters ride together, which would reduce the number of cars traveling along the bridge. 
The transportation company is asking the city to ease regulations to allow drivers to use Uber and pick up passengers going in the same direction. 
The company says people need a financial incentive to pick up their neighbors.
The Taxi and Limousine Commission stands firmly against any deregulation drivers have to go through.
Several residents also said they would like to see more regulation for drivers.
